Reforms to continue to build a Just Kazakhstan, President says

2023 was a year of great achievements and difficult challenges for Kazakhstan. In the departing year, the population of Kazakhstan reached 20 million, and the population growth is the key to the power and prosperity of the state, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in his New Year address.

He said that in 2023, Kazakhstan’s economy grew by 4.9 percent, and the country is steadily moving on its strategic course of sustainable progress.

“We have declared the key objective of state policy to ensure the rule of law and order, taking specific measures in this direction. Major projects have been launched in the fields of education and healthcare, and the transition to a new economic model based on the principles of justice has begun. All these important steps are aimed at improving the quality of life of our citizens,” the President said.

Tokayev emphasized that billions of dollars of foreign investment have been attracted in Kazakhstan, as a result of which enterprises needed by the country have been opened and new jobs have been created. Small and medium-sized businesses, which are the main driving force of the national economy, received comprehensive support.

Thanks to a balanced, constructive foreign policy, Kazakhstan has strengthened its position in the international arena in full accordance with long-term national interests, the President said.

“We have firmly taken the path of creating a Just Kazakhstan — a state of equal opportunities for everyone. In the new year, we will continue systemic reforms aimed at strengthening our statehood and improving the well-being of the people. We will take comprehensive measures to establish a dictatorship of law and order in society,” Tokayev said.
