Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will launch joint assembly of motor vehicles in 2024

Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will launch joint manufacturing of 12 models of motor vehicles in 2024, the Minister of Economy and Commerce of the Kyrgyz Republic, Daniyar Amangeldiev told a news conference in Bishkek late in December.

The Minister said that a joint car assembly plant is being prepared for commissioning, adding that the joint project with Uzautosanoat (which unites the enterprises of the Uzbek automobile industry) is to reach its designed capacity in 2024.

An agreement on joint production of motor vehicles was signed in January 2023 in Bishkek, during the visit of Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan.

A plant for the production of passenger cars and commercial vehicles will be built in the Chui region in northern Kyrgyzstan (some 50 km from Bishkek), and at the initial stage it will assemble Chevrolet cars and Isuzu commercial vehicles.

The project will be implemented in three stages. During the first three years, 10 thousand cars and commercial vehicles will be produced. The second stage will include organizing the production of automotive components and increasing the production capacity to 20 thousand cars and commercial vehicles. Subsequently, the production volume will increase to 30 thousand cars and commercial vehicles per year.
