During his state visit to China, on January 25 in Shenzhen, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the headquarters of Chinese company BYD, a global leader in the manufacturing of new energy vehicles and next-generation batteries. Together with the president of the company, Wang Chuanfu, Mirziyoyev took part in the launch ceremony of a project for the assembly of hybrid and electric vehicles in Uzbekistan’s Jizzakh region, with an annual capacity of 50 thousand vehicles.
During the ceremony, President Mirziyoyev spoke about the need to expand the model range and increase the production capacity to 300 thousand vehicles per year, his press service reported.
The President also supported the Chinese company’s plans to establish the assembly of BYD electric buses in Uzbekistan with the localization of spare parts production and creation of engineering and service centers.
