Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov on February 28 participated in a ceremony to launch the construction of an automobile assembly plant in the country’s northern Chui region.
The plant will assemble electric vehicles, commercial and passenger cars, and special equipment.
It is a joint project of the Kyrgyz government, local enterprises, and the Chinese company China Hubei Zhuoyue Group. In the first stage of the project, investments will amount to $115 million. The design capacity of the plant is more than 80 thousand vehicles per year. The plant’s commissioning is planned for August of this year.
In his speech, President Japarov expressed confidence that this investment project will give a big impetus to the development of the automotive industry in Kyrgyzstan and create new jobs.
Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen said at the launch ceremony that the start of the project was the result of strategic partnership between the two countries. She thanked the Kyrgyz president for his personal attention and support for business cooperation between the two countries and expressed hope that this project will become exemplary in deepening interaction between Kyrgyzstan and China.
