C5+1 Youth Council boosts peers’ tourism business skills

Thirty aspiring tourism business owners from universities in Osh, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will participate in the two-day “Youth Empowerment in Tourism” workshop to hone their skills in digital literacy, hotel service, business development, and social media marketing. The workshop features experts from the Kyrgyz Republic, the United States, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan, and included session on how to utilize international online platforms to attract tourists, such as Booking.com, WhatsApp Business, Airbnb, TripAdvisor, and more, the US Embassy in Kyrgyzstan reported on April 29.

The “Youth Empowerment in Tourism” workshop is implemented by a diverse group of C5+1 Youth Council members from the Kyrgyz Republic, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

Since 2016, the C5+1 Youth Council program has been bringing together university students from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan to develop a regional network of civically engaged and English-speaking youth leaders across Central Asia who work to advance C5+1 priorities. It is administered by the American University of Central Asia with a grant from the U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic.
