New wastewater treatment plant will be built in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region

The government of Uzbekistan and a consortium of companies including Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions (UAE), SUEZ (France) and Marubeni (Japan) have signed a Joint Development Agreement for the construction of a new modern wastewater treatment plant in the Kuichirchik district of the Tashkent region, the Uzbek Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade said.

SUEZ and Marubeni will act as technological partners for Abu Dhabi Sustainable Water Solutions.

The capacity of the new wastewater treatment plant will be 1 million cubic meters per day in the first stage, with a further increase to 1.5 million cubic meters. A 42-km wastewater collector will be built to collect and transport wastewater for further treatment.

The project will provide centralized wastewater management for residents, businesses, and organizations in the Tashkent region, which will further improve public health and the environmental situation in the region and save over 10 million kWh of electricity.
