International media forum held in Ashgabat

On March 28, the International Media Forum “Turkmen Land – the Center of Ancient Civilizations” was held in Ashgabat. It was timed to coincide with the celebrations marking the declaration of the Turkmen city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024 and the 300th anniversary of the birth of Turkmen classical poet Magtymguly Pyragy.

The event gathered representatives of domestic media, leading news agencies, television and radio companies, film associations, Internet portals, newspapers and magazines from the UK, Hungary, Moldova, Georgia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Russia, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, as well as the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the Radio and Television Union of the Islamic Cooperation Organization, the Union of News Agencies of IOS member countries (UNA).

The main topics for discussion were trends in the development of the global information field, new ways and methods of interaction between journalism and readers, television viewers and radio listeners. The forum delegates shared their vision of the role of the media in international integration processes and exchanged useful experiences in this regard.

During the session “Fount of Wisdom Magtymguly Pyragy” the speakers noted the importance of the rich philosophical and literary heritage of the outstanding thinker of the East, the classical poet Magtymguly Pyragy.

The anniversary of the great Turkmen poet was included in the List of significant dates for joint celebration with UNESCO in 2024-2025.
