Kazakhstan and Slovenia strengthen and diversify partnership

The President of Slovenia, Nataša Pirc Musar, paid an official visit to Kazakhstan from March 31 to April 1.

Following her negotiations with Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the two leaders adopted a joint statement reaffirming their strong commitment to further strengthening and diversifying partnership between Kazakhstan and Slovenia.

The two presidents agreed to broaden cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, and investments, with particular emphasis on promoting sustainable business practices and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. They also committed to enhancing collaboration in key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, information and communication technologies, energy efficiency, environmental technologies, artificial intelligence, engineering, and advanced industrial innovations through facilitating business-to-business engagement and mutual market promotion.

Both presidents underscored Kazakhstan’s pivotal role in the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor, recognizing it as the most direct and efficient trade route between Asia and Europe.

The presidents reiterated their support for closer cooperation in tourism, with a focus on the exchange of knowledge and experience, including the application of best practices in sustainable tourism, artificial intelligence, digitalization, and human capital development.

The presidents also agreed to promote bilateral cooperation in higher education, science and research, and to explore opportunities for implementing joint academic and scientific initiatives.

The president of Slovenia invited the president of Kazakhstan to pay a visit to Ljubljana in the near future, with a view to further strengthening bilateral relations and deepening cooperation between the two nations.

On April 1, both presidents attended the Kazakhstan–Slovenia Business Forum in Astana. The event marked an important step toward deepening trade and economic cooperation and strengthening investment ties between the two countries.

Slovenia remains an active EU partner of Kazakhstan, with over $195 million in direct investments since 2006. Around 20 enterprises with Slovenian capital are registered in Kazakhstan.
