In the 2024 Military Strength Ranking released by the Global Firepower, Kazakhstan ranked 58th among the 145 countries listed — the best position compared to other Central Asian countries.
In the ranking, Uzbekistan is 65th, Turkmenistan 83rd, Kyrgyzstan 100th, and Tajikistan 107th.
In the 2023 Ranking, Kazakhstan was in 63rd place.
The Global Firepower ranks the nations of the world based on current available firepower. The ranking is based on each nation’s potential war-making capability across land, sea, and air fought by conventional means.
In 2023, more than 37 thousand citizens joined the ranks of the Kazakh army, the Kazakh Defense Ministry said on January 11. Of the 37 thousand people, more than 16 thousand were sent to the Armed Forces. The remaining 21 thousand conscripts joined military units of the National Guard, the Border Service of the National Security Committee, the State Security Service, and the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
