Kyrgyzstan and Turkey have signed a contract for the export of 400 tons of walnuts from the Kyrgyz Republic. The first batch of walnuts will be exported to Turkey on February 15, the Kyrgyz Ministry of Economy and Commerce said.
The contract comes as a result of the Kyrgyz-Turkish business forum held in the Turkish capital, Ankara on February 9with the participation of the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Akylbek Japarov.
Speaking at the forum, Japarov said that relations between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey have reached a new level in all areas. Turkey was the largest investor in Kyrgyzstan’s economy in 2022, with investments totaling $341.6 million. Between January and September 2023, Turkey was among the five largest investors in Kyrgyzstan. From January-November 2023, trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $560.5 million.
At the forum, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Economy and Commerce, Daniyar Amangeldiev informed Turkish entrepreneurs about investment opportunities in Kyrgyzstan.
The business forum resulted in the signing of eight cooperation documents on joint investment projects.
