Kazakhstan’s national railway company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) said that a pilot tourist train, Jibek Joly (Silk Road), will depart on November 16 from Almaty on the route Almaty-Turkestan-Tashkent-Almaty.
The duration of the tour will be 5 days — from November 16 to 20. A total of 115 tourists will go on the first trip, which will give passengers an opportunity to visit cultural and historical places of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
In the Kazakh city of Turkestan, passengers will spend one day visiting key attractions such as the mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, Arystan Baba, the Otyrar Museum, and other historical sites.
Tourists will then spend two days in Tashkent: the first day will offer an excursion, with a visit to the historical complex of Hazrati-Imam, including the Barak Khan Madrasah, the mausoleum of Saint Abu Bakr Kaffali Shashi and Tole-Bi. Tourists will also visit the Magic City theme park and other modern attractions of the capital of Uzbekistan. The second day in Tashkent will be reserved for independent exploration of the city.
The train consists of 5 cars: 4 compartment cars and 1 restaurant car, where passengers will be provided with three meals a day.
On the train, passengers will be able to use a multimedia system, to watch films, listen to music, and read books. Passengers will also be provided with brochures with the program and city maps for the convenience of exploring the sights.
Tickets for the train were sold through travel agencies.
