Afghanistan’s acting Minister of Defense, Mawlawi Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid, met with Abdulsalam Azizov, the head of Intelligence and Border Services of Uzbekistan, to discuss border issues, strengthening bilateral relations, and economic and transit cooperation, Afghan broadcaster TOLOnews reported on February 1.

At the meeting, the Afghan minister said that the Islamic Emirate’s security forces are ready to cooperate in the implementation of development projects.

“The Islamic Emirate forces for the security in the country have the job of securing the national interest of the country, defending the Afghan soil, removing the threat and defending the projects and programs that are being implemented,” said Zabiullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate (Taliban-led Afghan government).

Previously, the acting Defense Minister emphasized that 20 provinces of Afghanistan have a common border with six countries, and there are 63 military bases, 108 military centers, and 600 security stations with the facilities and equipment to fight possible threats in these areas.
