British Museum opens exhibition featuring Uzbekistan’s historical artifacts

An exhibition, The Silk Roads, opened on September 26 at the British Museum in London, showcasing rare artifacts from Uzbekistan’s museum collections, among other exhibits.

Saida Mirziyoyeva, Assistant to the President of Uzbekistan, attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition and said: “It is a great honor for me to participate in the opening of the unique Silk Roads exhibition at the British Museum in London. This exhibition features rare and valuable artifacts from Uzbekistan’s museum collections, highlighting our rich historical and cultural heritage.”

She expressed confidence that the exhibition will serve as a source of inspiration for those interested in the history and culture of the Silk Road, while also symbolizing the shared efforts to strengthen and develop cultural ties between nations.

“Working with 29 national and international partners to present objects from many regions and cultures alongside those from the British Museum collection, the exhibition offers a unique chance to see objects from the length and breadth of the Silk Roads,” the British Museum says in its introduction to the exhibition.

The Museum added that “highlight objects from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan that have never been seen in the UK before also underpin the importance of Central Asia to this continent-spanning story”.

The Silk Roads exhibition will be on view at the Sainsbury Exhibition Gallery at the British Museum until 23 February 2025.
