The government of China’s Xinjiang will provide humanitarian financial assistance in the amount of 100 thousand US dollars to help Kyrgyzstan overcome the consequences of the recent accident at the Bishkek thermal electric power plant. This was announced during a February 12 meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, Aibek Moldogaziev and China’s Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Du Dewen, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry said.
Ambassador Du Dewen conveyed a message from the Secretary of the Party Committee of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, Ma Xinrui addressed to the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Akylbek Japarov, expressing support in connection with the accident at the Bishkek thermal electric power plant. Deputy Minister Moldogaziev expressed gratitude to the Chinese side for the financial assistance provided, as well as the support provided to the Kyrgyz side, which reflects the relations of comprehensive strategic partnership, good neighborliness and friendship between the peoples of the two countries, the ministry said.
An explosion occurred at the Bishkek thermal power plant on February 2, leaving parts of the capital city without hot water and heat for several days.
