Discovery Travel Forum puts the spotlight on Central Asia

With its ancient architectural monuments and beautiful natural landscapes, Central Asia is a magnet for travelers from around the world. The British publishing house Silk Road Media, through its publications such as Open Central Asia Magazine and travel guides to the countries of the region, has been promoting Central Asia as an attractive tourism destination, and has also created a platform for communication between the region and the rest of the world.

This platform is called Discovery Travel Forum, which has a history of more than 20 years and was designed specifically for the development of the tourism sector in Central Asia and the CIS countries.

The first Discovery Central Asia Travel Forum was held in Bishkek in April 2012. The event gathered about 300 participants from 15 countries, including the ex-President of the Kyrgyz Republic Roza Otunbaeva as the guest of honor.

The most recent edition of Discovery Travel Forum took place in September 2023 at the ‘Dom u Ozera’ Hotel in the resort town of Burabay (Borovoe, Kazakhstan). Dedicated to destination marketing, the forum was held in the highly effective format of “unboxing the region,” bringing together experts from the UK, USA, Poland, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan. The new format allowed to share international experience with representatives of the tourism sector of the Burabay resort.

The next Discovery Travel Forum will take place again in Burabay in September 2024.
