EBRD vice president to visit Kyrgyzstan

European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Vice President of Policy and Partnerships Mark Bowman will visit the Kyrgyz Republic from 27 February to 1 March for meetings with senior government officials, the diplomatic community and Bank clients, the EBRD said.

During his three-day programme, Mr Bowman will meet with Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Japarov, Minister of Economy and EBRD Governor Daniyar Amangeldiev and Minister of Justice Ayaz Baetov.

The EBRD Vice President will also participate in a special event to promote the Bank’s Green Economy Financing Facility III and present new e-notary and e-registration platforms designed to support the country’s digitalisation strategy and improve its business attractiveness.

In 2023, the EBRD invested €102 million through 22 projects in the Kyrgyz Republic – the Bank’s highest operational result in the country in the last five years. Sixty-seven per cent of the projects were in the private sector and almost 40 per cent of investments were green.

To date, the EBRD has invested €960 million in the Kyrgyz Republic through 238 projects, with most of those funds supporting private entrepreneurship.
