At the beginning of 2023, a preferential leasing mechanism for the renewal of city buses was launched in the regions of Kazakhstan through the Industrial Development Fund. As a result, 2.5 thousand vehicles were supplied to bus fleets, including 774 environmentally friendly buses, the Kazakh Transport Ministry said.
Also, during the past year, all regions switched to electronic payment for travel on city buses.
Full online dispatch support for buses has made it possible to reduce the maximum interval between buses arriving at stops to 20 minutes. In the future, the goal is to reduce it to 15 minutes.
The measures taken have improved the attractiveness of public transport for the population. The number of passengers increased by 9% compared to previous years and amounted to 1.5 billion people, the ministry said.
