Kazakhstan and Arab countries to cooperate in tourism

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Egypt, Official Representative of Kazakhstan to the League of Arab States (LAS), Kairat Lama Sharif on February 6 met with the Secretary General of the Arab International Tourism Organization under LAS Dr. Sherif Fathi Attia. The parties shared views on cooperation in the field of tourism, participation in international tourism exhibitions and fairs held in Kazakhstan and Arab countries, as well as attracting Arab investments in tourism clusters of Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh diplomat spoke about the tourism potential of Kazakhstan and invited his counterpart to visit the country to attend the opening of the XXII Kazakhstan International Exhibition “Tourism and Travel” (KITF), which will be held on April 24-26 in Almaty. Dr. Sherif Fathi Attia highly appreciated the tourism potential of Kazakhstan and proposed holding the first Kazakh-Arab investment forum in the field of tourism within the framework of KITF-2024.

The possibilities of concluding a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan and the Arab International Tourism Organization were considered, and the importance of coordinating this work through the General Secretariat of the Arab League was emphasized.

Ambassador Kairat Lama Sharif informed his counterpart about the V World Nomad Games, which will be held in Astana from September 8 to 14, 2024, and invited the Arab Tourism Organization to take part in the opening of this event. The Secretary General expressed interest in supporting this tourism initiative of Kazakhstan, and also proposed combining this event with an international horse racing tournament with purebred Arabian horses.

The Arab Tourism Organization is an intergovernmental organization operating under the Council of Ministers of Tourism of the League of Arab States (LAS). The organization includes Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Qatar, Oman, UAE, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Libya, Sudan, Tunisia, Kuwait, Algeria, Bahrain, Mauritania, Somalia, Djibouti, Comoros and Palestine.
