Kazakhstan continues expanding the geography of passenger flights and attracting more foreign low-cost airlines to the country’s air transportation market.
The Kazakh Ministry of Transport has announced that from May 14, 2025, Indian low-cost airline Indigo will open a new route between Astana and New Delhi. Flights will be operated 3 times a week on A-320/321 aircraft. The opening of a direct flight between the capitals of Kazakhstan and India will contribute to expanding ties between the countries.
In addition, Kazakhstan’s Air Astana will open flights to India on the Almaty-Mumbai route from April 20, 2025 (3 times a week on an Airbus aircraft).
Currently, regular flights between Kazakhstan and India are operated on the Almaty-New Delhi, Almaty-Goa, and Astana-Goa routes.
The ministry also announced that from May 27, Kazakhstan’s SCAT airline plans to open a new route to Hungary, between Shymkent and Budapest. Flights will be operated twice a week on a Boeing 737.
From March, Air Astana is to launch new routes to Vietnam, between Almaty and Nha Trang, 4 flights a week, and between Astana and Nha Trang, 3 flights a week, as well as to China, between Almaty and Guangzhou, 3 flights a week.
During the spring-summer season, the Air Cairo airline plans to open flights connecting Kazakhstan and Egypt on the routes Kostanay – Sharm el-Sheikh and Almaty-Hurghada.
