Kazakhstan: Photo exhibition ‘Women of the Great Steppe’ opened in Bulgaria

On the initiative of the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Bulgaria, on the eve of International Women’s Day, in the National Library “St.St. Cyril and Methodius” in Sofia, a photo exhibition, “Women of the Great Steppe,” opened with the first visitors including deputies of the National Assembly of Bulgaria, representatives of the diplomatic community, creative intellectuals, the Kazakh diaspora, the Bulgarian public and media.

Opening the exhibition, Kazakhstan Ambassador Viktor Temirbayev noted the invaluable role of women in the formation and development of the state, including in the context of ongoing large-scale reforms and transformations in the political system of Kazakhstan.

The Kazakh diplomat told the guests about the systematic measures of Kazakhstan to expand the participation of women in the economy, politics, and public activities. In this regard, he stressed that at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, a 30% quota for women and youth was brought in the lists of candidates of political parties in the parliamentary elections.

The Director of the National Library “St.St. Cyril and Methodius” Krasimira Alexandrova noted that the photo exhibition clearly demonstrates the invaluable contribution of women of Kazakhstan in building a developed state.

The exhibition features photographs of outstanding Kazakh women who at different stages of history have contributed to the development of culture, art, science, politics and sports in the country.

The photo exhibition will be open until March 20.
