The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan and Freedom Telecom Holding Ltd. (Kazakhstan) have signed a memorandum of cooperation in the construction of a fiber-optic hyper-highway and data centers for the transit and storage of international internet traffic.
The construction of the West-East national hyper-highway will significantly increase the volume of transmitted data and turn Kazakhstan into a key player in the international transit of internet traffic. The project is aimed at increasing the speed of connection and data transfer, as well as creating an alternative route for the transit of internet traffic between Europe and East Asia.
The project is to be completed in 2026.
Construction of modern data centers will allow for the accumulation of content and ensure traffic connectivity. These centers will comply with the international TIER-3 standard, which guarantees a high level of reliability, security and uninterrupted operation.
The construction of the West-East hyper-highway and data centers is a strategically important step for Kazakhstan on its path to digital development.
The project will be financed through private investment.
