Kazakhstan Railway Internet Access: Stay Connected on Trains

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ), the country’s national railway company, says it will launch a pilot project to provide Internet access on its trains starting from January 25. The new service will be introduced on the Astana-Almaty train, a very popular route among passengers.

Internet connection will be provided using modern satellite technologies and will allow passengers to access WhatsApp, YouTube and other video hosting sites throughout the trip. However, access to torrents and sites with streaming downloads will be limited.

The equipment has been installed and supported by the telecom operator Jusan Mobile, the official partner of OneWeb in Kazakhstan.

The project will also introduce mobile terminals for conductors, allowing them to quickly check tickets; POS terminals for cashless payments in the dining car; and video surveillance systems for additional monitoring of the situation in the railcars.

As the country continues to modernize its infrastructure, the introduction of internet access on trains has become a significant step forward in enhancing connectivity and convenience for travelers.

The Kazakhstan railway company has recognized the importance of staying connected, especially in an age where digital communication is paramount. With the implementation of Wi-Fi services on trains, passengers can now enjoy seamless internet access during their journeys. This initiative not only caters to the needs of business travelers who require constant connectivity but also enhances the overall travel experience for tourists and locals alike.

Traveling through Kazakhstan offers breathtaking views of the steppes, mountains, and cities, and having internet access allows passengers to share their experiences in real-time. Whether it’s posting stunning photos on social media or staying in touch with family and friends, the availability of internet access transforms the way people travel. Moreover, it enables passengers to plan their itineraries on the go, making it easier to explore the rich culture and history of Kazakhstan.
