Modernization of Kant Cement Plant starts in Kyrgyzstan with EDB funding

First Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Adylbek Kasymaliev on March 20 officially inaugurated the modernization of the Kant Cement Plant. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) has allocated up to CNY 351.2 million for the project.

The ceremony brought together heads of relevant national and regional authorities.

The EDB’s financing will facilitate the construction of a state-of-the-art dry-process clinker burning line with a daily capacity of 2,500 tons, which is expected to significantly enhance the plant’s environmental performance.

Established in 1964, the plant produces four types of cement, all meeting international standards. It currently employs approximately 800 individuals.

The primary consumers are Kyrgyz construction companies and facilities manufacturing concrete and related products. Cement from the Kant Plant has been utilized in the construction of the Naryn cascade of hydropower plants, dams on the Talas and Sokuluk Rivers, and airports in the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Kant Cement Plant is a part of the United Cement Group, a major cement holding in Central Asia with operations spanning Uzbekistan, the Kyrgyz Republic, and Kazakhstan for over 15 years.
