Number of train passengers to Kazakhstan’s Borovoye resort on the rise

During the summer season, traveling to Borovoye resort by train has become even more popular among tourists in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan’s national railways company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) said that in June, 49 thousand passengers were transported to this picturesque place some 200 km north of Astana by electric trains, a 30% increase compared to June last year, when about 34 thousand passengers traveled there by train.

KTZ earlier announced plans to transport 125 thousand passengers to Borovoye this year — a record number over the last three years. Last year, the number of passengers to the popular resort was 86 thousand.

There are 14 train routes to Borovoye from different parts of Kazakhstan.

For the convenience of passengers, this year, the national railways company has reduced the travel time of the high-speed electric train on the Astana-Borovoye Resort route from 4 hours to 2.5 hours. The train runs five times a week: on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

At a government meeting on the development of the country’s tourism industry in June, Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the natural and historical sites of the Borovoye resort area are Kazakhstan’s unique asset. This is largely due to the proximity of Borovoye to the capital, Astana, which ensures a constant influx of residents and guests of the capital to the place famous for its beautiful lakes and massive pine forests.
