On March 17, as part of the official visit of Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon to the Russian Federation, a virtual ceremony of the start of construction of two important social and humanitarian facilities in Tajikistan was held in the Kremlin.
Rahmon and Russian President Vladimir Putin launched the construction of the State Russian Drama Theater named after Vladimir Mayakovsky and the International Educational Center for the Training of Gifted Children in Dushanbe.
The heads of state watched the groundbreaking ceremony of these two important cultural and educational facilities on large monitors in the Kremlin Palace.
The start of construction of these two facilities is another sign of the steady expansion of humanitarian and cultural ties between Tajikistan and Russia.
During his talks with Putin, Rahmon expressed satisfaction with the good development of political dialogue at all levels. The rapid development of trade and economic cooperation in recent years was emphasized.
Particular attention was paid to the enhancement of humanitarian relations, cooperation in the fields of culture and education.
It was noted that 71 Russian-language educational institutions operate in various cities and districts of Tajikistan, including those opened by the Heads of State in 2022, as well as 190 mixed schools. In this context, cooperation in providing these educational institutions with books, educational materials and literature in the Russian language remains an issue of concern.
It was noted that three branches of prestigious Russian higher educational institutions operate in Tajikistan, and more than 28 thousand Tajik citizens study at Russian universities.
The parties agreed that in June this year, the Days of Tajik Culture will be held in the Russian Federation.
