Trade between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan amounted to $266 million in 2023, compared to $44 million in 2022, Afghan broadcaster TOLOnews reported with reference to the Afghan Ministry of Industry and Commerce.
Afghanistan’s exports to Uzbekistan totaled $27 million in the past year and imports from Uzbekistan amounted to $239 million, the ministry’s spokesman said.
Afghanistan mainly exports to Uzbekistan dried fruit, fruit juice, apricots, sesame, and carpets and imports electricity, flour, beans, chemical fertilizers, oil and gas.
The Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that for the strengthening of Afghanistan’s relations with the regional countries, a plan is underway to connect with China through Uzbekistan.
