UK Export Finance to provide $2.3 billion for projects in Kyrgyzstan

On April 14, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Erkinov and the delegation of UK Export Finance (UKEF) headed by Ms. Shebnem Alp. The meeting was also attended by British Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Nicholas Bowler.

The parties discussed key areas of bilateral economic cooperation, paying particular attention to the UK’s financial initiatives. In particular, it was noted that UK Export Finance offers the Kyrgyz Republic financing in the amount of 1.8 billion pounds (about 2.3 billion US dollars) for the implementation of investment projects in various sectors.

Deputy Foreign Minister Erkinov expressed the interest of the Kyrgyz side in expanding and strengthening the partnership with UK Export Finance, emphasizing the importance of using the proposed financing to support sectors such as construction, digitalization, energy, agriculture, and mining.

Representatives of UK Export Finance delivered a presentation on the agency’s activities, financing mechanisms, and opportunities for cooperation with both public and private entities in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Both sides agreed to continue the dialogue and work on the development of specific joint projects in priority economic sectors.
