The President of Uzbekistan earlier this month signed a resolution “On measures to implement the investment project for the production of alternative thermal energy from medical waste”.
The project will be implemented by a U.S. company, Sayar LLC, which has established a project company in Uzbekistan, called Sayar Green.
An Investment Agreement has been signed between Sayar LLC (the investor), Sayar Green, and the Uzbek Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, according to which, from August 1, 2024, all medical waste generated in medical institutions and facilities of all types in Uzbekistan will be transferred to the project company for the production of thermal energy. Hospitals and other medical institutions will then purchase this thermal energy for heating.
