Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan Kongratbay Sharipov and Chairman of the Government of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China Erkin Tuniyaz have signed an agreement on granting scholarships to Uzbek citizens to study in higher educational institutions in the western Chinese region, the government portal of Uzbekistan reported.
The two sides agreed to establish direct cooperation between higher education and scientific institutions, support exchange of experience in education, research, technology and management, mutual visits and exchange of teachers and scientific personnel.
According to the document, by the end of November each year, the Chinese side will provide a list of higher education institutions where citizens of Uzbekistan can study, as well as information on the conditions and requirements of scholarship programs. The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan will provide a list of students recommended for study in universities of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
The duration of study of foreign scholarship holders is determined by the host country in accordance with the requirements of the national education system.
