Uzbekistan and French Development Agency strengthen economic partnership

On March 10, Laziz Kudratov, the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, participated in the 6th annual consultations between Uzbekistan and the French Development Agency (AFD). The meeting also included representatives from AFD, Proparco, and Expertise France, as well as leading experts and entrepreneurs.

The meeting explored new opportunities for joint economic development and summarized the results of bilateral cooperation aimed at supporting reforms, implementing infrastructure projects, and advancing the green economy.

The expertise of French companies can serve as an additional catalyst for Uzbekistan’s economic growth, particularly through the development of sector-specific strategies, support for regional development programs, and reforms designed to strengthen the private sector.

The parties identified several key areas for further collaboration, including the development of regional cooperation, the attraction of additional financial resources, and cooperation in the field of critical raw materials.

To support these areas, Uzbekistan has enacted legislation regarding mineral extraction, developed in collaboration with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. This legislation adheres to international standards and will create favorable conditions for attracting investment in the country’s mining sector.

The parties expressed confidence in further strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and the French Development Agency. They also highlighted new opportunities for European companies in Uzbekistan, a nation striving to become a leading center for investment, innovation, and sustainable economic growth.
