Since the beginning of this year, about 70 thousand women have used the service of traveling in “women’s carriages” in trains of Kazakhstan’s national railways company, Kazakhstan Temir Zholy. This figure has doubled compared to the same period last year — more than 34 thousand women, the company’s press service reported.
Since the introduction of the service in the beginning of 2021, more than 359 thousand women have chosen to travel in “women’s carriages” to ensure a more comfortable and safe trip.
Today, passenger trains on 8 routes in Kazakhstan have women’s compartment carriages, including the route between Astana and Almaty.
Tickets for women’s carriages are sold only to women and male passengers of up to seven years of age, and these carriages are staffed exclusively by female personnel.
